National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing
Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station
This week long, hands-on course provides a comprehensive
overview of the techniques and challenges involved in the upstream
processes for manufacturing biologics.
Lectures and laboratories cover biologic products, upstream
processes, biomass production, cell lines, bioreactors and their
operation, and the analytics used to evaluate upstream production.
Applied hands‐on training includes preparation and proper labeling
of reagents and media, aseptic technique, plasmid extraction,
purification and quantitation, enzyme digestion and agarose gel
electrophoresis, cell banking, counting and passaging, bioreactor
assembly, sterilization, and operation, microbial cultivation and
inoculation of seed culture, fed‐batch, and batch fermentation.
