On October 13, 2016, NCTM hosted a PDA Texas Chapter half-day event that was sponsored by Steris, BD, Beckman Coulter, Kimberly Clark, Globiox, Ellab, and MDx Bioanalytical. In attendance were more than forty (40) industry professionals from across the state, researchers, and students from Texas A&M and Blinn College. The event began with tours of Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies-Texas’ vaccine and live virus manufacturing sites, followed by dinner and the following presentations/tours:
- “Innovation in Vaccine Science”, by Thomas Page, Ph.D. (Associate Vice President of Engineering, Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies Texas)
- “A New Resource for the Development and Training of Biopharmaceutical and Biotechnology Manufacturing Personnel”, by William Jay Treat, Ph.D. (Director of the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing) and Jenny Ligon (Assistant Director of the NCTM); with a tour of NCTM cGMP-based Training Labs
- “Biopharmaceutical Product Development: Overview of the FDA Process for Approvals and Post-Marketing Changes”, by Mansoor Khan, R.Ph., Ph.D. (Director of Formulations Design and Development Core Laboratory in the Rangel College of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University, Former Director of the Product Quality Research Division of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research-FDA)
