NCTM’s Research Scientist Andrew Syvyk, Ph.D. was recently selected as North America’s Global 3Rs Awards Program Winner by AAALAC International. Andrew’s work gained attention and recognition for advancing ethical science in animal research.
Syvyk’s research focused on genetically manipulating stem cells to distinguish and examine desirable characteristics for the generation of live animal models with the purpose to conduct research in vivo. This method provides highly predictable results while saving time, money, and encouraging animal welfare.
