NIIMBL has awarded funding for the NeuroPIPES (Neurodiversity Pipelines In biopharmaceutical Employment through Supports) program as part of Project Call 7.1.
This program aims to train 24 neurodivergent/autistic people to work as biomanufacturing technicians in the processing of large molecule drugs. Participants are identified via our partner, Rangam, and are then enrolled in PEERS for Careers, a professional social skills course at UCLA before completing a 2 week hands-on biomanufacturing training at NCTM. After completing these courses, participants will go on to interview at our industry partners Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.
NCTM will be working with the Texas A&M Psychology department to ensure these participants are learning in a way most suitable for each individual.
We hope this pilot cohort proves a success and welcome additional cohorts and industry partners to join this exciting project.
